CUDA BOWL NEWS & MEDIA

The 2014 Cuda Bowl concluded on Saturday, February 1st in Key West. A total of 27 boats and 41 anglers participated in this years event.

A total of 4889.25 inches of barracuda were scored and released. The total number or releases noted were 279.

Grand Champion Angler – Spin DIvision
Paul Shultz of Salem, NH had a tremendous two days of fishing scoring 271.25 inches with 6 barracuda. Shultz released a total of 19 barracuda during the 2 day event. His largest being 47.75 inches.
Shultz was fishing with Captain Connan Lehmkhul of Key West.

Grand Champion Angler – Fly Division
Nathaniel Linville, owner of The Angling Company in Key West remains reigning fly champion. Linville caught a total of 199.75 inches with the largest barracuda being 46 inches. Lineville was fishing with Capt. John Benvenuto of Key West.

First Runner Up – Spin Division
Matt Gravett of Warrenton, VA caught 258.50 inches coming in second overall in the spin division. HIs guide was Capt. Bob Paulson of Sugarloaf Key, FL.

First Runner Up – Fly Division
Jim Knowles of Round Hill, VA with a total of 186 inches and 6 fish released took second place. Knowles was guided by Capt. Peter Heydon of Key West.

Third Place – Spin
Thomas Schrade of Annandale, VA took third place with a close 254 inches. Schrade was fishing with Capt. Tony Skinner of Key West.

Third Place – Fly
Bob Crist of Ketchum, ID fishing with Capt. Michael O’Brien of Key West.

Largest Barracuda Spin Division
Dave Moloney of Summerland Key with a 51.5″ barracuda. Moloney was fishing with Capt. Shane Smith of Big Pine Key.

Largest Barracuda Fly Division
Nathaniel Linville of Key West with a 46 inch barracuda on fly. Linville’s guide was Capt. John Benvenuto of Key West.

Top Woman Angler
Jenn Hurst of Sugarloaf Key
Six women fished this years event: Lynn Bell of Summerland Key, Amy Cyr of Key West, Cassandra Davie Lamb and Jenn Hurst, and Belinda Hancock of Sugarloaf Key and Krissy Wejebe of Summerland Key.
